Does Mixed Martial Arts Help You Become A Better Wrestler?

I just started doing mma and i was wondering if it will improve my wrestling skills. I am a 10th grader in High School and ranked 5th in the state. Besides me wrestling over the summer i decided to do mma during my summer break. Can someone explain if mma will help me become better, or will it make me worse and used to doing other techniques when i wrestle?

  1. The two are not the same. For example, running sprints will not make you a better long-distance runner, and running a marathon will not make you a better sprinter.
mixed martial arts training will make you a better mixed martial arts fighter.
Wrestling drills and practice will make you a better wrestler.

  2. Well for me no because in MMA your stance is switched so after taking MMA for a while I could not stop leaving my opposite foot out. Also alot of the moves might be great for breaking an arm but get you pinned at the same time. However if you go in with the desire and intent for that sole purpose only you should be fine.

  3. MMA is a different sport. It will help your endurance but as helping you become a better wrestler no. you cant elbow strike at all in wrestling and in MMA you have to always protect from strikes while on the ground.
