And were the UFX matches shown on TV official matches or exhibition matches (not put in the fighter’s MMA record)? Because if you joined UFX and all those fights weren’t exhibition, you could easily grow your MMA stats to 3 wins in one month. In which most profesional mixed martial artists only get an average of 3 fights per year.

I read this today, and I think the comparrison between animals thrown into a pit/cage with no choice but to fight is far from the reality of people training with the purpose and intent to fight.
So from an ethical point of view is Cockfight really an accurate comparison to Mixed Martial Arts bouts, or just a shock tactic aimed at disgusting people to gain public support?

I need to do a Cultural Artifact speech for my Comm class. And I have decided to talk about Mixed Martial Arts. But during my research, I can’t seem to find a definite answer as to what culture MMA originated from. I’ve read it started in Greece, Rome, Italy, etc..
Can anyone help pin point this for me? It’d be very helpful since I am supposed to talk about a culture different my own (US)..
